5.5-inch Gold iphone 6 Phablet compared To 4.7-inch model In new photos
Apple’s iphone 6 has been leaked dozens of times through mockups, and although we’re fairly sure as to the device’s eventual form factor, it’s always difficult to establish what reported information is factual and what is perhaps a spin on the truth.
Sonny Dickson, who has a fairly solid reputation for accurate leaks, has released a snap on Twitter of what is claimed to be an accurate image of the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iphone 6 in white and gold. given his history of reliable iDevice-related information, we can be at least a bit more sure of the device’s eventual profile, and as you can see, it’s essentially what we’ve been anticipating for some months now.
The Cupertino’s smartphone is set for a significant overhaul this time around, with a larger, 4.7-inch display packed into a device with thinner bezels and an iPod touch-like rear shell. Additionally, the power button will be relocated from the top of the device to the vicinity of the volume rockers, which should help the average hand-span access the sleep / wake functionality with minimal fuss.
Accompanying the 4.7-inch model will be, as per a number of reports, a 5.5-inch variant, and although it is thought that both size options will be announced at the same event, it is also reckoned that the larger edition will be subject to delays. Apparently, Apple is having trouble with both the display and the battery of the 5.5-inch model, and so while the smaller handset will probably release in September, those wanting something bigger may have to wait until later in the year.
The case makers have already been hard at work in producing protective shells for the iphone 6 in order to beat competitors to the draw, and with Dickson’s leak seeming to underpin everything we’ve seen and heard of late, it looks as though we’re now just waiting on that announcement from Apple.
As well as the new form factor, the iphone 6 is expected to offer an improved rear-facing camera, faster A8 processor with improved graphics, and, of course, the just-announced iOS 8 software.
Given that we’re still in June, we’ve got a few months to wait in advance of that September release bracket, and hopefully, the interim period will throw up a few more nuggets of info regarding what’s next from Apple.
