Here’s Why Ashton Kutcher chose To Play Steve jobs In Upcoming Flick
The choice of Ashton Kutcher to play the role of Steve jobs in the upcoming indie film concerning the life of the late, great Apple co-founder was one which, at first, did raise one or two eyebrows. but having seen the teaser trailer and stills of Kutcher on the set as the man himself, the former Punk’d presenter actually makes for a convincing representation of the former Cupertino CEO, and now, Kutcher has spoken for the first time on why he chose the role.
Although the film isn’t particularly high-budget, it has generated much interest due to the fact that, discounting the funny or die web film iSteve, it just so happens to be the very first film on Jobs. Kutcher may not be everybody’s favorite actor, but as far as holding down the role of a young Steve jobs in a plausible fashion, he appears to have done a good job.
Of course, we’ll learn much more when the film actually becomes available to view at the cinema, but to tide us over until the August 16th release date, Kutcher has taken to Q&A site Quora to insight why he took on what is a pretty significant role.
As a fan of jobs himself, he felt he was up to the role because he cares. instead of looking on as other actors took on the role and failed to connect, he wanted the acting protagonist to be someone who “cared about his [Jobs’] legacy and took the time to represent him in a way that people who were close to Steve felt to be authentic.”
Whether he has successfully connected with the character is, again, something we can only learn upon viewing the movie, but if the previews are anything to go by, Kutcher may well have nailed it. Although he was initially terrified by the thought of playing the role of Jobs, his own interests in the tech field drove him on to play the part, and with the film now just a month from release, it will be interesting to gauge the reaction from the tech industry – particularly from those with an affinity to Apple.
Be sure to check out the jobs film trailer to get an insight of the upcoming movie. It’s brilliant, and we believe Kutcher fits the role of the man himself, visually.
